Alby's career started when he was a teenager working in Portobello Market. He quickly discovered that he had a passion and flair for making silver jewellery and since moving to Wales and opening Quicksilver, he has built up a loyal local trade and an ever-growing international clientele. And what gives him the most satisfaction is seeing customers return after many years, still wearing something he has personally made for them.
Adding to Alby’s array of talents, he is also tutoring his youngest daughter, Rosie. He is passing on his years of experience and keeping silversmithing in the family. Rosie is not only learning to create her father's classic designs, she is bringing her own, exciting ideas to Quicksilver.
We use a full set of London hallmarks on most of our pieces. This assures you that we are using sterling silver. The hallmarks will show the 925 symbol, telling you the quality of silver; a letter, for the year it was made; and a panther's head, to show it was hallmarked in London. Included in our hallmarks is the maker's mark. This is Alby's personal symbol reading A+S, essentially it is Alby's signature on the piece he has created for you.
Quicksilver is open from 11am to 3pm on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
